Ingredients
A) For the dough:
Dry ingredients
- 500g Mum’s Mill Quick Bread Mix
- 50g sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 50g sultanas
- grated peel of half a lemon
- grated peel of 1 small orange
Wet ingredients
- 40g butter, melted
- 250ml (1 generous cup) warm milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
B) For the cross:
- 25g Mum’s Mill Quick Bread Mix
- 4 tablespoons water
C) For the glaze:
- apricot jam
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Step 2
Mix the wet ingredients together in another bowl.
Step 3
Stir together the two mixtures and knead for 10 minutes. Then let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
Step 4
On a flour-dusted surface, knead the dough, then divide into 6 even pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then put them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Flatten them lightly (to get the right shape). Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6.
Step 6
For the crosses, mix the flour with the water. Spoon the paste into a piping bag. Pipe a line along each row of buns, then repeat in the other direction to create crosses.
Step 7
Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 8
Brush apricot jam over the top of the warm buns and leave to cool.
